ITINERARY

Our representative from Bhutan will receive you at the Airport. You will be taken to the hotel for checking in with your Welcome tea. And then visit Kyichu monastery dating back to the 7th century, one of the oldest monasteries in Bhutan. After having lunch you will head to Drugyel dzon, a ruined fortress at present, and it was built in 1649 by Shabdrung Nawang Namgyel. The dzong was actually built to commemorate the winning victory over the Tibetans in 1644, holds great historical significance. The name means the victorious Bhutanese. This spot offers a magnificent vista of Mount Chomolhari, “Mountain of Goddess” 7329 meters. Visit a typical Bhutanese farmhouse on the way back. Lunch at a local restaurant. Afternoon, Visit the National Museum – Ta-Dzong. Once the watchtower for the Rimpung Dzong, it was converted into the National Museum in 1968. The Museum stands on a promontory overlooking the Paro valley in all its glory. Visit the Paro Rinpung Dzong. A flagstone path rises gradually from a beautiful wooden bridge with shingle roofing abutted by two guardhouses, to the dzong. Today, the Dzong is the seat of the district administration as well as the home for the monastic school. The central tower Use of the Dzong, with the superb woodwork, is one of the most beautiful in the nation. The Dzong was built in 1645 A.D. Evening: Tea at the hotel and drive for two hours 65 km. to reach the capital city of Bhutan. Overnight in Thimphu.

Today, you will start your tour with a visit to the school of Arts and Crafts established to preserve and promote our age-old arts and crafts. Explore the Folk Heritage Museum which is a replica of a medieval farmhouse, and you might get to see this kind of house in some of our rural parts. And visit the mini zoo to see the Takins which is our national animal. Have lunch in town and visit our Memorial Chorten, a stupa built-in 1974 in the memory of our beloved 3rd king. After exploration then, you will head to the next destination Phobjika with a comfortable drive. Overnight in Phobjikha.

The day to explore Phobjikha valley with the first visit to Gangtey Goemba, located atop a hill grants a magnificent view of the entire Phobjikha valley. A very significant site related to Saint Pema Lingpa, the reincarnation of Guru Rinpoche who introduced Buddhism in the country and uncovered its treasures. It also houses one of the largest halls in Bhutan. Mostly known as the Black Cranes circle the monastery three times when they arrive and three times when they leave. After then, you will head to the Black-necked Crane, an indigenous species of the Himalayan Region. They migrate from Tibet to Bhutan in late autumn each year. Black Necked Crane Information Centre is run by the Royal Society for Protection of Nature (RSPN) and has an observation room with high-power telescopes and good scope for spotting the famous Black Necked Crane which migrates to the region during winter. After touring Chimi Lhakhang, you will be escorted to your hotel in Punakha.

Proceed for a full-day tour to Punakha (Approx 85km/ 3 Hours From Thimphu). Today, you will make your way to Punakha Dzong, sitting in an exceedingly sultry, fertile and exquisite natural depression between Pho Chhu ( Male River) and Mo Chhu (female river). After reaching Paro, the main motive is to experience a short trek to Taktsang monastery 10km. from Paro Town. The name Taksang means “Tiger’s nest”. The monastery is perched on a rocky ledge with a sheer drop of nearly 800m, the second half of the 8th century, Guru Padma Sambhava, the second Buddha, alighted here upon the back of a tigress. Picnic lunch at Taktsang cafeteria. The round trip hike takes about 4 hrs. Evening: a casual ramble through Paro Town for shopping and visit to some village homes. Overnight in Paro.

The admiring trip comes to an end today!!! You will be transferred to the airport for departure. Off to Bhutan staff will bid you farewell and safe journeys until we meet again.
