The Suni pass in the mather of all African passes. It crosses Drackenberg into the mountain kingdom of Lesotho. This exciting journey starts at 1544m and rises 1332 vertical meters to the summit at 2876m in a few Km where Africa’s highest pub can be found. The pass is an exhilarating adventure and It is a spectacular 4×4 track zigzagging its way through the rocky cliffs to the top of the roof of South Africa into the beautiful Lesotho.
The Royal National Park is part of a world heritage and it is a scenic mountain wonderland inserted in the North region of the uKhahlamba-Drakensberg Park. A rock wall 5km long and 500 meters high, the world-famous Drakensberg Amphitheatre is The main attraction of the reserve. On The top of This Mountain is where the Orange River (South Africa`s longest river) starts its incredible journey Across the Kalahari desert, Bordering South Africa and Namibia to meet the Atlantic Ocean. Another attraction in the Amphitheater is the Second highest Waterfall in the World, The Tugela Falls, An impressive fall that cascades down 980m to form the Tugle River ( the Longest river in Kwazulu-Natal) that meets the Indian Ocean in the east.
The Giant castle in part of the Maloti-Drackenberg Park and a world heritage site; It offers magnificent views for hikers and mountain climbers of the gassy plateau among the deep valleys running down from the face of the High Drakensberg and an amazing diversity of birds and Wildflowers. It is the numerous caves of the Giant Castle the biggest collection of Rock art in Africa.
The uKhahlamba-Drakensberg Mountain Range is the highest part of Africa`s Great Escarpment, which encloses the central Southern African plateau and is one of South Africa’s most spectacular natural wonders! uKhahlamba in Zulu means Barrie of spears and Drackesberg in Afrikaans means The Dragon mountain. both names revers to the pointed mountain landscape. The Drackensbeg is An awe-inspiring and truly magnificent range of mountains that stretch well over 200 kilometers forming a natural border between Lesotho and KwaZulu Natal, the majority of which lie in the KwaZulu Natal Province. The Maloti-Drakensberg Park and The Royal national park in The north and central parts of the Drackensgberg form together one of South Africa’s World heritage sites. The Drakensberg was once home to the San people, or bushmen, one of the oldest tribes in the world. The numerous caves found in the mountain has one the most extensive and probably most exceptional collections of rock art in the world. That is one of the reasons It was Declared by Unesco as a site of great importance.
ITINERARY
You will be picked up at the airport or another place of your choice between 8 am and 10 am and transferred to the Town of Underberg. 1:00 pm Check-in 14:00 lunch The afternoon is free you can try one of our extra tours. 19:pm Dinner Overnight Underberg
Our day starts early. We meet at 07:00 am for breakfast and at 8:00 am you be taking on a full-day tour to the roof of South Africa: The Suni pass. We will travel in a 4x4 vehicle with experienced guides. Lunch will be at the Highest pub in Africa, located on the top of the Mountain kingdom of Lesotho. After lunch, you will meet the locals on a cultural tour to a Sesotho Village. Dinner at one of the Underberg restaurants. Overnight Underberg
After breakfast at 8:00 am, you will be transferred to Giant Castle Lodge. We will take a scenic route traveling alongside beautiful sceneries of farmlands and Drakensberg on the background. After Lunch, you will go for a guided hike to the San caves, where you will have an insight into the past and the life of the bushman and see the biggest collection of Rock paint in Africa. That is a guide by a local guide that will explain How the San man lived. Dinner at the lodge restaurant. Overnight at Giant Castle
We meet at 8:00 am for breakfast and you will be transferred to The Amphitheater backpack and lodge, in the Royal national park. After checking in at the hotel you will be taken on a hike to one of the highest waterfalls in the world, the Tuggela Falls. Our lunch will be a pic knick by the Tugela River. Our dinner will be a traditional South African Braai for your farewell party.
