- North Sikkim is as fascinating as East Sikkim when it comes to tourism. It is also suitable for a family holiday for the numerous sightseeing opportunities involved. You could visit Lachung, a scenic village by the side of River Lachung. Yumthang is famous for being a valley of rhododendron flowers & hot springs.
- North Sikkim also receives heavy snowfall during December. This is a good time to visit it to enjoy the snowfall. The temperature often falls below zero. The entire landscape is covered by snow. Everything is white!
- Just near Yumthang lies Zero Point, the last destination for civilians before China’s border. It’s also home to one of the highest lakes in the world, Gurudongmar Lake, at almost 17.800 feet. Khangchendzonga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is located in this district.
- It’s both a national park and a biosphere reserve. You get to see rare Himalayan wildlife species like Himalayan Tahr, Himalayan Blue Sheep, Himalayan Black Bear, Tibetan Wild Ass & red panda.
Sikkim is one of the most famous tourist destinations in North East India. Its marvellous landscape is dotted with high altitude lakes, rolling green mountains, colourful rhododendron groves, azure rivers, milky waterfalls, beautiful monasteries and unparalleled views of Mt. Kanchenjunga/Khangchendzonga, the third highest mountain in the world. The state is divided into 4 districts: North, South, East and West. There are 4 district capitals: Gangtok (East Sikkim), Mangan (North Sikkim), Namchi (South Sikkim) & Gyalshing (West Sikkim). The main capital of the state is Gangtok. Each of these districts has something unique to offer to the tourists.
ITINERARY
We receive you at Bagdogra Airport (Ixb)/Railway Station (Njp) & you will be met by our representative he will welcome you and board your vehicle to Gangtok. Check in to hotel overnight stay at Gangtok.
Tsomgo Lake-38 km from Gangtok and at an altitude of 12,400 ft, the ethereally beautiful Tsomgo Lake is a must on every visitor’s itinerary. A winding road through rugged mountain terrain and sharp cliffs takes you to Tsomgo, which means the source of the water in the Bhutia language. The lake derives its water from the melting snows of the mountains surrounding the lake. Of legendary beauty, the lake looks different at different seasons. In winter the placid lake remains frozen with the area around it covered in snow while in late spring the profusion of flowers in bloom adds a riot of colours around the lake. Baba Mandir-Located between Nathula and Jelepla pass at an altitude of 13,123 ft and about 52kms from Gangtok, Baba Harbhajan Singh Temple is popularly known as Baba Mandir. One usually covers this temple along with a visit to Tsongmo Lake and Nathula Pass. There is a touching story associated with this temple. Harbhajan Singh was a Sentry of Punjab Regiment and was posted here as part of the border patrol force. The border with China is nearby. In October 1968 he disappeared. It is said that while escorting mules carrying provisions, he fell into a stream and drowned. After a few days, he reappeared in the dreams of one of his sentry colleagues and asked him to make a memorial here in his name. (Additional Cost)Nathula -Nathu La, one of the highest motorable roads in the world, is a mountain pass in the Himalayan peaks that co-joins Sikkim and China. Situated on the Indo-Tibetan border 14450 ft. above sea level, Nathu La is one of the most important Himalayan passes in the country. Nathu means 'listening ears', and La means 'pass'. Nathu La is one of the three open trading border posts between India and China and is famous for its picturesque beauty and beautiful environment. The temperature here remains low for most parts. In case of Landslide or Due to any other reasons if Tsomgo Lake is closed then Alternate Sightseeing will be provided. Nathula is closed on Monday & Tuesday for tourists. Organizing the permit at the last moment is not possible & a clear window of 72 hrs with proper documents is required to process the permit. To process the permit we would require 02 passport size photograph & photo proof identity cards such as /Voter Id / Passport /Driving Licences/For Childs-Birth Certificate/(Aadhaar & Pan Card Not Accepted). There is no refund, In case the permit is confirmed by Sikkim tourism & due to whatsoever reason (Land slide, Heavy rainfall, VIP Movement, Health issue etc) one is not able to visit.

The residents of Lachung who are mostly Bhutia call themselves Lachung pass. Yumthang Valley- About 25kms from Lachung, at an altitude of 11,800 ft, lies the Yumthang Valley. As the tree line ends, a vast stretch of valley exposes a dense area filled with Rhododendrons in different colours like purple, red, blue, pink, etc. The view is captivating and looks as if it’s taken out of a painting. Additional Cost Zero Point- With super freezing temperatures at an altitude of 15,300 ft, Zero Point is really like heaven where one can get the most magnificent views. Also called Yume Samdong, Zero Point is the place where three rivers meet, surrounded by snow-clad mountains and offering a panoramic vista to view. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ By Mitalee Chakraborty
I with my family recently visited Himachal with nestravels. I am really very impressed with Mr. Debjyoti Chanda who called up every morning and evening to elaborate details about sightseeing and took feedback about the day spent. Everything from Hotels to the vehicle provided was excellent and the Driver who was also our guide was very knowledgeable. Thank you Sir for a great Holiday and though you are in the northeast, I will avail your service in every future trip anywhere in the country.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ By aahan rajSeven sister tour packages is really very nice Do follow them for experiences around NorthEast India especially for Meghalaya !
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ By Rashmi DuttaWe had the best experience with nestravels on our trip to Madhya Pradesh recently Everything was well managed and organized. Moreover they offered surprises after surprises like upgrading our Hotel rooms to vehicles. I highly recommend Nestravels.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ By 2itchyfeetsNorth East Sojourn Travels (NEST) is the best!!! We went to Nagaland, Assam and Arunachal for 10 days with NEST. Ours was not a usual trip and it involved a lot of off-roading, remote areas and long travels. Most of the areas we visited had limited phone networks, forget about the internet. When you are on such a trip, you get many hurdles along the way. We got delayed by a day due to a landslide along the way and once our car broke down. But NEST ensured a smooth and comfortable journey even on the treacherous roads. During that trip, we visited the remotest villages of Nagaland, attended a ceremony in a Monastery and get to know to meet Tai Phake Tribe, visited the famous Parshuram Kund, get to see the first sun rays that enters India in Dong Village of Arunachal, went up to the last eastern village of India and see China border, went till Anini Village and get to meet Idu Mishmi tribe there. All of these experiences were flawless and memorable because of the way NEST organised this trip. Every day the owner of the company Mr Debjyoti would call us, our stay owners and our driver to ensure a smooth trip for us. In short, NEST made a difficult trip, smooth for us. We would love to cover other parts of Arunachal with NEST soon.
