The best about this tour is that it lasts for two days, giving you the opportunity to also see many other amazing sites in the Wadi Rum Desert. Furthermore, it includes even an overnight stay at our traditional Bedouin camp! This makes the experience much more complete than just doing the mountain hike by itself.
Food will be cooked for you over the fire in the desert. We will locate a picturesque spot amidst sand and rocks, have lunch and relax for a while enjoying the beauitful views all around.
During this tour you will also be shown ancient inscriptions and generally be told about Bedouin life and culture.
In the evening (either at the camp or on the way there depending on time) you will be able to view a magical desert sunset.
At the camp, traditional Bedouin food cooked under the ground awaits you, as part of a big all-you-can-eat dinner buffet. Later, sit around the fire, share conversations, or listen to the music we play and sing on the oud. Maybe there will even be traditional dancing. Gaze aat stars, enjoy the calm atmosphere, before getting a good night's sleep in one of our comfortable private tents, ready for day 2 for yet more spetacular places to be visited!
This is one of the most spectacular hikes in the Wadi Rum desert. It takes about 3h and is suitable for everybody who enjoys climbing and scrambling at an intermediate level without too much experience needed. The hike passes through narrow canyons, you can enjoy beautiful views on the way up, there are parts where you have to use your hand, as well as parts for normal walking in between. It is an adventure not to be missed and certainly an unforgettable experience for everybody. At the top, you will be surprised by the beautiful famous arch awaiting you after your effort of hiking and scrambling up. Due to it being located in the East part of the protected area, you can have views in all directions; to the West and the North you can see inside the magnificent protected area, whereas to the East you can also view outside of it. You will go with an experienced guide, so even the less experienced have nothing to worry about.
ITINERARY
We leave the village at around 9.30 am, then go to visit Lawrence Spring, sand dunes, Khazali Canyon, and the Small Rock Arch. Then we head to the Burdah area, where we will have lunch, before embarking on our main goal, climbing up Burdah mountain and its famous arch on its top. Afterwards, we go to Um Frouth Arch, followed by Abu Khashabah Canyon, a narrow sandy canyon, that you can walk through and be picked up by us at the other end. Then, we go to watch the sunset. After a long day, we will now take you back to the village. In case you decide to spend the night with us, we will take you to our Bedouin camp. Here you can enjoy Bedouin food cooked under the ground and watch how we take it out from under the sand. After a delicious breakfast buffet with Arabic specialties, you will climb on the jeep, and we go see yet more magnificent places inside the protected area. Good To Know
We are happky to customize our tours for you. If you have a particular place in mind which you want to visit, let us know.
FAQs
We prefer an easier hike than going up Burdah mountain. Are there any other options?
Yes. Although the Burdah hike is not too difficult and still doable by almost everyone, if you want a more relaxing and easier hike, we can swap it for Al Hash mountain, which has similar duration, but mostly flat ascent.
What if we cannot arrive in Wadi Rum as early as 9.30am?
No problem, we can start the tour at any time you arrive.
Do we need to bring our own water?
No, in addition to food, we provide cold, bottled water throughout the day, so one thing less to worry about carrying!
Is there an extra charge for sandboarding?
No, sandboarding can be arranged free of charge.
Will there be other tourists doing the same tour with us?
No, it is only you/ your group or family and the tour guide. Other tourists will go separately with a different guide.
Will we meet other tourists at the places we are going to visit?
Depending on the season, yes or no. But if you wish to avoid other people we can adjust our tour for you to include more secluded, but nonetheless very picturesque spots, and we can take you to the more famous spots earlier in the morning when fewer people visit.
Can I also add more activities and tours after adding additional nights?
Of course you can. We are happy to advise you and put together a program for you which exactly sits your needs and pereferences. We can plan over a cup of tea as soon as you arrive.
Can I add different activities like longer hikes, camel rides, or visits to certain places not in the original itinerary?
Yes! In order to get the full of experience and make the most of your time here, we recommend to try a variety of different activities, like camel riding, sand boarding, sleep out in the desert, hike the highest mountain in Jordan etc. Some might require an additional fee.
Reviews

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ By Adam Dendek
Our experience was absolutely fantastic from start to finish! Salaman was extremely responsive and helpful with all of our inquiries leading up to the trip. We booked a one-day hiking tour with an overnight stay, specifically selecting the Burdah Rock Bridge excursion. I won't go into detail about the tour since you can easily find all the information on their website. During the trip, we enjoyed a delicious lunch and saw all the must-see locations. One of the highlights was scrambling into the Burdah Rock Bridge, which was quite challenging. Despite struggling at first, our guide helped me navigate and when it became too difficult, he recommended that I return. Instead, I took the opportunity to enjoy a solitary walk in the desert and reflect on my life while leaving my mundane problems behind. The trip concluded with a sunset viewing and a bedouin-style dinner where the meat was cooked under the sand. It was incredibly tasty! We spent the night in tents and had access to hot water and breakfast in the morning. Overall, the location, people, and experience were all superb.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ By Bridget Wynne WillsonWe had a fantastic tour and stay with Wild Wadi Rum; the activities were great, allowing us to see so much and also do some amazing hikes we would have been unable to access otherwise. We got away from the touristy side and felt so connected to nature. Salman, Ahmed and his family are wonderful hosts who offer genuine hospitality. The camp is comfortable and secluded, and the atmosphere there is really warm with the family making music, great food and good views. I live in Jordan so will be coming back to Wild Wadi Rum again and recommending it to all my guests.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ By Stan VI booked a jeep safari + hiking tour with Wild Wadi Rum Tours and it was absolutely amazing! Wadi Rum is breathtakingly beautiful and they guided me to the best sites as well as through the hike (with expert advice). They even considered nice details such as: "we'll go here later in the day because the lighting will then be better for photos". My guide spoke English well, was very friendly and easy to communicate with. Can definitely recommend them!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ By AshleyWe had a wonderful afternoon/sunset tour of Wadi Rum. They were very responsive and easy to communicate with from initial contact. We were able to have a jeep tour that fit our schedule. They took us to all the highlights and gave us time to explore. At the end of the trip, we admired the wonderful sunset in the desert with tea. It appeared all the jeep tours go to the same key sites. After extensive research, Wild Wadi Rum offers a great experience with a great price. We highly recommend Wild Wadi Rum.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ By Joaquín PanielloWe spent one day and night in Wadi Rum starting with a welcoming lunch. It was a great experience. We felt realy at home. The camp with dobble rooms (tents like rooms) was great. And the silence and stars in the night unique. We truly felt at home.
