Tour Introduction

Armenia is  the Land of old Legends, Biblical Stories and Ancient History and culture.  We offer you the opportunity to touch the ancient culture of the Armenian people, see the sights, learn interesting facts about the history of the country, discover tradtions and customs and enjoy the charming beauty of nature. So, in this tour you will a chance to explore the main highlights of the country and spend 7 unforgatable days in this beautiful land.

ITINERARY

City tour in Yerevan. Transfer to the hotel rest. The tour will start with guide and drive around Yerevan with various stops along the way, you will have an opportunity to admire at the architecture and daily life of this ancient city. After, you will visit the Genocide Memorial founded to commemorate the innocent victims of one of the biggest crimes against humanity of the 20th century. The tour will end with a visit to the Matenadaran, manuscript museum you will have a fascinating journey through the rich history of Armenia. Back to the hotel.

This day will start your trip to the south of Armenia to Khor Virap Monastery located at the foot of Biblical Mount Ararat. If the weather is fine you will be able to admire the amazing view of the mount Ararat which opens from the top of the hill. Sometime later you will enjoy a trip through a narrow canyon to the valley of red rocks where the 13th-century monastery Noravank is located. En route, you will visit the wine factory to taste local wine made of unique grape sort Areni. Next stop is Karahunj, a 6,000-year-old observatory, known as the “Armenian Stonehenge". The overnight will be in the town of Goris in a local hotel.

After breakfast, you will head to the see one of the highlights of Armenian medieval architecture, the monastery and university of Tatev. It is located in a picturesque place at the edge of the gorge. You will reach the monastery by the longest cable car in the world, it stretches on 5.7 km over the 320 meter-deep Vorotan River Canyon. Next stop will be in the resort town of Jermuk famous for its hot mineral springs and scenic landscape. After dinner you will have time to enjoy a walk through the Arpa River Canyon to admire the Jermuk Waterfall. Back to Yerevan

This day you will head to Lake Sevan, the “blue pearl of Armenia” and one of the highest freshwater lakes in the world located at about 2000 meters above sea level. Here you will visit Sevanavank monastery which was found in 874 by Princess Mariam. Lunch will be served in a restaurant overlooking the lake with local lake-caught fish on the menu. The trip will continue to Dilijan, a lush town known as a spa resort. A stroll in the historical district will let you experience the atmosphere of the old town as it was in the 19th century. Visit Haghartsin and Goshavank monasteries and Parz Lake. Back to Yerevan.

After breakfast visit drive to Ashtarak city visit Saghmosavank and Ohanavank monasteries and the canyon in the nature surrounding the monasteries are stunning. Lunch will be near Saghmosavank monastery. Amberd fortress is located on the slops of Mt. Aragats about 2300 m above sea level. The ruins of the Amberd fortress with the church nearby are also worth a visit - not to be missed. Back YErevan.

Optional visit to Yerevan brand factory .

On the fourth day, you will drive to the scenic canyon of the Azat River. The 7th-century Geghard Cave Monastery is located deep at the bottom of the canyon and is listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. The towering cliffs of its surrounds are part of the monastery’s complex which is both carved from the adjacent mountain as well as partially built from local basalt stones. The tour will continue to Garni village, where is located the Hellenistic Garni temple. Lunch will be served in the courtyard of a family in Garni and will consist of local traditional dishes.

Transfer to Zvartnotc International airport.
