7 Day Walks in the Foothills

Overnight Stay: Hotel/Homestay You need to arrive at Amritsar airport/railway station. Our driver and your Tour Guide cum Escort will meet you there. From here you will drive to your hotel. After check-into the hotel, let us drive to the border of Indian and Pakistan where the retreat ceremony is performed every evening. After dinner, we have a plan to take you to the Golden Temple to see the closing ceremony of the Holy Book.

Distance: 200 km Driving Time: 5 hrs. Drive to Dharamsala via Gurdaspur, Pathankot, and Gaggal. Gradually we enter the hills and suddenly gain an elevation of 2000 meters. On arrival check in to your hotel. Relax a bit and then walk to the Monastery of Dalai Lama. His Highness Dalai Lama lives just opposite the Monastery.

Walking: 8 km Today is the day to enjoy nature to its fullest. After breakfast, we drive to the village of Naddi and follow a forest trail. The view of the hamlets dotted on the mountain slopes across the valley keeps appearing. The rest of the day is to yourself.

Walking: 8 km Today we shall go for another walk from the same walking point. We will walk from village Naddi to Gunna Devi temple. On the way, there is a tribal village called Bahl from where the view of Dhauladhar ranges and Chamba Valley from this place is noticeable.

Distance: 75 km Driving Time: 3 hrs. Walk: 5 km Drive to Pragpur and on the way, a detour to Masroor Rock temples, better-known as Ajanta of Himalayan foothills is worth a visit. Check-in on arrival and then we proceed for a Village Walk through the village of Garli and enjoy the local lifestyle.

In the morning after breakfast Walk through the streets of village Pragpur. The village is known for its old houses and mansions. The lifestyle in this Heritage village is based on the traditions set by the locals. Afternoon free to yourself.

Distance: 75 km Driving Time: 3 hrs. Drive through the beautiful scenery dominated by snowclad Dhauladhar mountain ranges of the Himalayas. We drive straight to a private Tea Factory. A Tea tasting tour, a visit to the factory, and then a short walk through the tea estate that is owned by a local. Later drive to the village Andreta where Sardar Sobha Singh the famous Sikh artist made his home.

We drive to Bir, for thirty km, the famous place for Paragliding. A narrow but easy tail bifurcates from here leads along a rivulet and passes through tiny villages. Finally, we arrive at Sherbaling Monastery where we end the walk. Later drive back to Palampur. Rest of the day at leisure.

Walk: 6 km Heritage Walk is the best way to know Shimla. From your local historian, you will learn a lot about the hill station that was the Summer Capital of British India during the Raj. It still maintains the ambiance from that era and attracts a number of visitors from Britain who come here looking for their family roots.

Walk: 7 km Go with a naturalist and walk through forested trails to learn about the ecology, flora & fauna, and local lifestyle in the hills.

Today morning we will take a toy train from Shimla for a short ride. This fascinating journey offers amazing views of Himalayan Vista. After that drive to Chandigarh to board the flight/train to your next destination. Tour Ends.
