This 3-days Murchison Falls Safari offers gratifying experiences of the river Nile and the ecosystem of wildlife and birds in Murchison Falls National Park. On this short wildlife safari, you will see many animals including lions, leopards, crocodiles, elephants, rhinos, giraffes, hippos, and buffaloes as well as various antelopes and hundreds of bird species. This wildlife safari starts and ends in Kampala. Your main destination is Murchison Falls National Park but you will pass by Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary where you can see Uganda’s rhinos and walk with them in the wild. You will then proceed to Murchison Falls and explore the park’s wild savannah as well as the Falls and Nile on a boat cruise. The Nile itself hosts one of Africa’s densest hippos and crocodile populations & a dazzling variety of water birds including the world’s most accessible wild population of the rare shoe-bill. The Stretch of the Victoria Nile provides one of Uganda’s most remarkable wildlife spectacles. You get to see the Nile squeeze through a 7 – 8 meter wide gorge plunging with a thundering roar into the “Devil’s Cauldron” creating a trademark rainbow. There is a chance to land a massive catch of the Nile perch which lives within strong currents and highly oxygenated water near Murchison Falls. This wildlife safari trip has many engaging activities for both big and smaller groups. It is also perfect for a short ‘weekend in the wild’ getaway. Take a look at the detailed day-by-day itinerary breakdown to get a better idea of how this would work for you.
This safari starts with our driver/guide picking you up from your residence/hotel in Kampala or Entebbe early in the morning. You will then go on a panoramic drive (approx. 8-9hrs) northwest through Luwero and Masindi town. Branch off for a visit to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for a guided Rhino walk and picnic lunch. Continue to the spectacular site at the top of the falls where you can see the Nile’s beauty perfected. Marvel at the Nile, compressing from up to 1 km squeeze through a 7-meter canyon dropping 45 meters with a thunderous roar creating a beautiful rainbow, a plume of spray, and the best thing that happened to the Nile, “the Murchison Falls”. Enjoy the sunset as you return to the lodge. Accommodation at Fort Murchison Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Begin your day with a cup of African coffee ready for a wildlife game drive, bird watching, and sightseeing across the open Savannah dotted with woodland and riverine vegetation along the Nile and Albert delta. Here expect to meet elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, lions, leopards, waterbuck, and countless populations of birds, return to the lodge for breakfast and lunch. After lunch, a three-hour boat trip along the Nile gives you an assured chance to see the Murchison falls from the bottom angle. Wildlife such as hippos, crocodiles, antelopes, and aquatic birds can be seen along the shores of the River. Accommodation at Fort Murchison Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Wake up at 6:00 am prepared to take a photograph of the African rising sun in the morning and enjoy an African breakfast.
